"To everything there is a season,
And a time to every purpose under the heavens."
(Ecclesiastes 3: 1)
Kairos
is a Greek word for time. However, it does not mean the same as
chronos, which merely designates time as a succession of
moments.
Rather, the word kairos indicates a certain time, or an age or an
era that is
marked by or recalled for the challenges, opportunities
and
accomplishments it contains.
A
kairos is thus a particular time that stands separated
from other
periods, and in which whole nations, whole industries
or whole
businesses may be changed.
Those changes will depend of course,
on
the circumstances occurring during the period
and the actions these
provoke - or, in the current context,
on the recognition and
management of opportunities.
The
name Kairos is thus particularly apt for a company that,
newly-restructured, is able to identify growth opportunities and,
through astute management, to magnify
these to the benefit of
stakeholders.
